From Birth, To Rebirth
I originally drew this little guy back when I used to work in a PacSun. I told myself I was gonna start to get more creative and try to draw more etc. Which is funny because about a couple days after I drew this, I decided I really enjoyed it a lot more than I thought. So I made the decision to do a serious remake of this. Take my time and just really bring this guy to life.
I opened him up in Illustrator and did this solid linework sketch and before I knew it I was half way done with the final version.
Then comes the sad part... I just stopped working on it. I didn't lose it, It didn't get damaged. A lot of stuff just came crashing down in my life and I just never picked it back up. Probably a good year or so he stayed tucked away in my Bristol Smooth drawing pad. Laying there, lusting a good ol' fill of color. So I did it. I had already been so motivated when it came to learning how to paint and dishing out new projects left and right. I told my self, "this style is where I started." and it only took me a couple minutes of staring and I was hooked on the decision to finish it.
So I finally did it. I finally finished "The Hunter" and decided a new creature should have a new name and he became the "Devourer".
The whole process of this piece being drug out was ridiculous and shouldn't have happened like it did, but if it didn't, would it have turned out this way? Who knows. Thats why you don't question the way things happen in your life. If things didn't happen the way they did with mine, This wouldn't have even been created.
